PocketPets Privacy Policy
PocketPets ("the app", "we", "us") is a cosy virtual pet game. This page explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and how you can ask us to delete it. We built PocketPets to be a small, low-pressure game — we collect the minimum needed to make the game work, and we don't sell your data or use it for behavioural advertising.
Account & identity
PocketPets uses anonymous sign-in — we do not ask for your name, email address, or password to create an account. When you first open the app, an anonymous account is created for you automatically, identified only by a randomly generated session token stored securely on your device.
- A random friend code and an auto-generated display name (e.g. "Velvet Fox") are created for you so friends can find your world — these are not derived from any personal information.
- You may optionally set a custom display name or upload a small profile photo. Both are visible to friends you connect with in-game and can be changed or removed at any time in the app.
Gameplay data
To run the simulation and save your progress, we store data tied to your anonymous account, including:
- Your pets, world layout, inventory, in-game currencies, and quest progress.
- Friend connections you make via friend codes, and basic activity needed to show friends when you've visited their world.
This data exists purely to make the game work across sessions and devices signed into the same account, and is never used for advertising or sold to third parties.
Push notifications
If you grant notification permission, we store a device push token (provided by Apple/Google via Expo) so we can send you occasional gameplay notifications. You can disable this at any time in your device's notification settings.
Technical & diagnostic data
Our backend infrastructure (hosted behind Cloudflare) automatically processes standard connection information (such as IP address) as part of serving requests and keeping the service secure and reliable, in line with normal web server operation. We do not use this to build an advertising profile of you.
What we don't do
- We don't require or collect your real name, email, or phone number.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't run third-party behavioural-advertising trackers in the app.
Children's privacy
PocketPets is a general-audience cosy game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below and we will delete it.
Your choices
Because accounts are anonymous, most of the data described above lives only against your device's session token. You can:
- Clear your profile photo or display name at any time in the app.
- Request deletion of your account and associated world/pet data by contacting us — see below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
